Nora McBride
Artwork
Originally from the Twin Cities in Minnesota, Nora McBride has lived in the San Luis Valley since 2006. She graduated from Adams State University in 2011 with an MA in printmaking, and currently works in several different mediums, including; drawing, painting, relief printmaking, and embroidery, and also paints custom murals. Her work reflects everyday life, childhood memories, her imagination, and the weirdness of being human on this planet. She creates symbols that transmute her personal fear and anxiety about the future of the world into collective love, acceptance and stability. She uses viruses, refineries, the internet, and toys from her childhood to create these visual devices. On some level these images embody what is heartbreakingly destructive in humanity, as well as what is creative and good.
